The Payment System in our country is executed trough the participants, which are the following:
NBRM as the main participant of the Payment System, and the banks with permits from NBRM for executing the Payment System, according the law.
- The clients in the Payment System can be local or foreign, legal entities or individuals which are registered or other individuals which execute denar payments trough the Payment System participants .
The Payment System in the Republic of Macedonia is executed trough two clearing systems:
- MIPS (Macedonian Inter-banking Payment System), trough which the inter-banking payments for large amounts are executed (1(one) and over 1(one) million denars). This transferred funds can be used immediately.
- KIBS (Clearing inter-banking system) trough which payments for small accounts are executed ( up to 1(one million denars). This transferred funds (amounts) can be accessed after clearing of the banks at the and of the work day of the NBRM system, or the next day.
- The participant of the Payment System (the Bank) opens accounts for the clients, on their request.
- The clients of the Payment System can have more accounts at one participant, or can have accounts at more participants of the Payment System.
The participants of the payment system have data for all opened accounts and the same are distributed to the unique registry of account holders.
The unique registry of account holders is at the Clearing house.
